Welcome

I am pleased that you have decided to visit our website. Whether you are a Citizens Academy graduate, a prospective class member, or an information seeker, I hope you find the site useful and informative. I am honored to serve as the President of an organization of community leaders and citizens who are knowledgeable and supportive of the FBI’s role throughout Utah, Idaho and Montana. Since its inception in 2013, our organization has worked to promote a greater understanding and support of the FBI in the interest of national security and the protection of civil liberties. We fulfill our mission by providing Citizens Academy class members an insider’s look at the operations of the FBI in Utah, Idaho and Montana, in the US, and around the world. Through the Citizens Academy, class members gain an awareness and appreciation of the challenges and issues our FBI and local law enforcement agents face in the performance of their duties. The graduates of our program serve as community ambassadors, help promote a safer community, and foster essential connections between the FBI and the citizens of the state of Utah, Idaho and Montana. Our website is an extension of our mission to promote understanding and support of the FBI. I appreciate your interest in the FBI Citizens Academy. Thank you for taking the time to explore the site.

Sincerely,

Mike Drury, President

WHO CAN ATTEND THE CITIZENS ACADEMY

Business, civic, and religious leaders, each nominated by a Bureau employee or a previous Academy graduate. You must be at least 21 years old (with no prior felony convictions) and must live and work in the area covered by the Salt Lake City field office sponsoring the academy. Please note: Because classified techniques used in criminal and national security cases are discussed, nominees must undergo a background check and get an interim security clearance. Each session has around 20-30 students.

YOUR ON-GOING SUPPORT IS APPRECIATED!

The FBI Citizens Academy Association is supported by voluntary contributions from Alumni members that have graduated from the Academy. The annual dues are $75 dollars. All graduates, past and present, from the citizens academy are encouraged to join the alumni association to help ensure that others will have the same outstanding experience as they did. As well as experience future events held by the Association.

Your donation partially helps in the costs of meals for future Citizens Academy students. In addition, once you are an Alumni member you will receive an invite to all the events held by the Association. These include but are not limited to: annual tours of the new FBI Salt Lake City headquarters, fundraising shoots at a Law Enforcement training facility, semi-annual dinner with spouses, Fraud College seminars, concealed carry permit classes, child protection seminars, and opportunity to visit and tour the FBI headquarters at Quantico.

Our organization is maturing and growing and we heartily encourage you to to be a part of the great Citizens Academy experience by supporting the Association and these annual events.
